Critical regionalism is an approach, which seeks to provide architecture rooted in the modern tradition, but tied to a geographical and cultural context. How is this approach pursued at TU Delft and translated in practice, and in reaction to which current universal socio-cultural, ecological or economic issues? During the symposium a number of scholars and practicing professionals will give their insight into this question.
Dick van Gameren, Nelson Mota and Andreas Faludi will give short lectures on their hands-on methods and motivations for conscientiously dealing with the factor region in their academic work and practice. Liane Lefaivre and Alexander Tzonis will summarize the historical aspects and explain the contemporary relevance that critical regionalism has across the various fields of architectural design.
